You can give queer and trans* kids safer spaces to be themselves…

…And help us make camps safer for everyone.

How you can help

Reach out to us for support to make your program, camp or organization a space of belonging for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth.

Donate. When you give to TQAMP, you make it possible for us to develop recommendations and tools that can be universally applied, are informed by current data and best practices recommended by the American Pediatrics Association, American Psychiatric Association, OSHA, the Trevor Project and other trusted youth advocates.

Your donations enable us to offer reduced fee and free trainings and support services to camps and organizations who:

• have been targeted by hate groups, anti-LGBTQ+ media outlets or anti-LGBTQ+ politicians.

• have struggled to welcome a trans* or queer participant or staff person but wish to repair harm and do better.

• are in a politically or legislatively hostile area with limited resources affirming or protecting trans* youth.

• simply can’t pay for support due to anti-DEI or anti-LGBTQIA+ funding restrictions in their state or organization.

Nationally there are about 3.2 million LGBTQ youth between the ages of eight and 18, more than half (52%) of whom are youth of color. (Movement Advancement Project)

We know that queer and trans* youth face a barrage of challenges—from state-enforced barriers to accessing healthcare to outright erasure in schools. We believe that no one is more or less deserving of safety and joy than anyone else.

There are over 20,000 Summer camps in the US. Every year, about 26 million youth attend them. We estimate that upwards of 1 million 2SLGBTQIA+ kids go to camp or camp programs every year. (Based on estimates from UCLA School of Law Williams Institute)

Queer and trans* youth deserve safer spaces to be themselves. We know that policies and practices that reflect what 2SLGBTQIA+ youth need to feel safe and included at camp ALSO increase the safety and inclusion of their straight cisgender peers. So we equip camps to do just that.

Since 2023 the TQAMP team has trained over 10,000 staff at more than 60 camps and organizations to be safer and more inclusive.
